Angelica, the interior designer from Strata, and Katie decided on a minimal, contemporary and Scandi concept and below are the principles they considered to develop the look.

Contrast

They used sleek black accents and metal elements paired with natural warm woods and accessories to keep it sleek and cosy. Using the glass table alongside wood and cork keeps it from looking too harsh against the other elements in the space.

Biophilic design

They wanted to bring out elements off the outside and nature in. They chose Little Greene ‘Normandy Grey’ as the wall colour and used lots of faux plants to continue the green thread. Using wood and cork adds to the calm and connected feeling to the outdoors.

Texture (Katie’s favourite)

They mixed up materials like velvet, ceramics, waffle, smoked glass and a pebbled rug in tones of greige, black and white.

Levels

They wanted to create levels in the space to give it some interest. They chose a two-tier coffee table and used slim wall shelving to take your eye around the room.
